How To # 4
White Witch of the Legion of Superheroes
I have certain kits that I really like to work with. The trick is to alter the pose so that all of your figures don’t look the same. I used the same Asian girl kit to make both Troia and Infectious Lass. I thought this kit had the right slim body type for White Witch of the Legion of Superheroes. But I wanted her to look different from the other figures I had made with this same kit. So, a few easy adjustments gave this figure a unique look.
First, I cut the figure’s arms at the elbows. Then it was very easy to pin the arms and reposition them. I made the sleeves out of Milliput putty to cover the seams. I also cut the head off, and then changed the position to have the face looking upwards. The figure already looks different from the original. Next, I used some leftover skirts pieces from another kit (see right) to make White Witch’s costume. I always keep old spare parts from kits to use on future projects.

Next, I made a panel out of Super Sculpey to fill in the back “skirt” of the costume. I filled the seams w/ Milliput putty, and also created White Witch’s hair. Last, I made her antennae out of fine wire, and attached them to the corners of her eyes. Now she’s ready for her paint job.
The paint job on this figure was fairly straight forward, since she has a white costume and hair. I gave her a very pale complexion and dry brushed white on top to give the skin a very ethereal look. White Witch’s makeup was tricky, since she was drawn with red eyes and white eyelashes. I used a very nude lip color, just a little Tamiya Flat Flesh mixed with Flat White.
